Staff illness, reduced appointments

So often nowadays, we hear people stating that Covid is a thing of the past and we should just get on with it.

Today, we are once more reminded Covid is still very much a problem affecting us.

Several members of our clinical team are currently off because of either confirmed Covid or because they are awaiting the results of a PCR test.

This very much affects the running of the practice. Unfortunately, with less staff members, there will be less appointments available. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes our patients, but there is nothing we can do about this. One doctor has even added extra appointments to his sessions to increase our capacity, but this is still very much a drop of water on a hot plate.

Chances are that by the time you get through, the appointments have already been allocated to other patients. We are sorry if you cannot get the appointment you wanted today. If you feel it is urgent for today, please contact i-Heart between 4 and 6 pm (01226 242419). If the problem is very urgent, try NHS 111 and if it is life-threatening, please ring 999 instead.

If your query is non-urgent, you can also contact us online via our website. Any requests received this way, we deal with within 2 working days. This is, therefore, not suitable for urgent problems. If we receive an excessive amount of online requests, we may need to either temporarily disable this system or take longer to answer your query. You can contact us online by clicking HERE.

Once again, we apologise for the lack of appointments, we do what we can under the circumstances. Please, don’t take it out on our receptionists, they do the best they can under difficult circumstances.

All this once more reminds us of the importance of keeping ourselves and others safe. Wear a mask, socially distance, do not mix with other people unless it really is necessary. Covid is not a thing of the past yet. Not even close. Stay safe everyone!
