Patient Satisfaction Survey comments

This week’s comments on our Patient Satisfaction Survey:

‘My address was changed by the doctors I do not know and never gave this address to them now my results are going to an old address. Had to go to doctors with my proof of address and ID even though I hadn’t changed my address so they could change it back to my current address.’

We’re not certain what happened here. We will only change the address on a patient’s record if we receive notification from the patient that they have changed address. We can only  assume, if correspondence went to an old address, that the patient had not previously informed us of a change in address. That way, the old address would still show on their record.

‘I had my medication review blood test yesterday 11/12/25 then a phone review today 12/12/25 by Dr maters which ment that the thyroid medication needed to be increased ,with out the quick service I got things would have taken a lot longer.’

We’re pleased to hear we were able to provide such a quick turnaround for the patient.

‘I’ve never ever known a surgery so hard to work with. I phoned up weeks ago to seek an appointment with my GP I was told to go elsewhere where. I then needed to see my GP for the same reason some 3 weeks later down the line as I hadn’t been seen when I initially asked to see my GP. No I got an appointment this time for 9am but was only send the confirmation text message at 9.28am so missed my appointment. I was told to “keep an eye on your text messages for confirmation” did this and missed my appointment. I am registered with Grimethorpe Surgery but yet can’t get in to see anyone there just get sent everywhere else. If I wanted my GP to be in town centre I would reg there, because all you ever get told is “try I-Heart after 4” my surgery is round the corner from my house not a 5 mile drive into town. How can this be right? Grimethorpe Surgery needs an overhaul, no wonder people are progressively getting more ill is it when they can’t be treated.’

We’re sorry to hear this patient is unhappy with the service we provide. If patients request to see a GP, the symptoms they share with the surgery are triaged by one of the GPs for a need to be seen and the urgency to be seen. Our appointment availability is limited. If none remain and the GP believes a patient should be seen the same day, a patient will be signposted to iHeart, a walk-in centre or an urgent care centre instead. We realise patients may believe this is inappropriate as the surgery is only around the corner and should therefore see all patients that wish to be seen themselves. This is however not possible and we will therefore signpost to other services when this is deemed appropriate by the GP. Please, don’t wait for another day or several weeks in the hope you can see your GP then. There must be a reason the GP has signposted to other services at that time.

With regards to text messages, if you have ever used the NHS app in the past, even if you no longer use it, all messages will be sent to the NHS App in the first instance. Only if you don’t view your messages in the NHS App within a certain time frame, will it be sent as a text message instead. We therefore advise you to check your NHS App on a regular basis, or, preferably, enable notifications on the app so you will be informed in a timely manner.

‘Dr sam is amazing’

‘I have deep faith in both surgeries.thank you.’
