Warmer Homes Scheme

Posted on:

South Yorkshire ICB is collaborating with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) on a “Warmer Homes Scheme,” which has been made possible by a generous grant from National Energy Action (NEA). This scheme is specifically designed to offer practical assistance to individuals whose existing health conditions are exacerbated by living in cold housing. As you know, cold homes can significantly worsen respiratory issues, cardiovascular conditions, and other chronic illnesses, leading to increased demand on primary care services and poorer patient outcomes.

The “Warmer Homes Scheme” provides direct support to eligible residents to make their homes warmer and more energy-efficient, thereby mitigating the negative health impacts of cold living conditions.

The practice may send patients a text which will act as a direct referral, however, if you feel you qualify but have not received a text, you can contact the surgery to check if you would qualify for this. (Possibly via our online consultations)

Conditions which have been highlighted are:

  • Dementia
  • Arthritis
  • Cancer
  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Autism
  • Learning Disability
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Physical Disability
